The Human Body as a Divine Gift from God
At Human Body and Soul (HBS), we believe the human body is not just a biological structure—it is a sacred creation, carefully designed and lovingly given by God.
The Bible teaches that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14). This truth reminds us that our bodies are more than vessels; they are living temples entrusted to us for care, stewardship, and holy living.
Why the Body Is a Divine Gift
1. Created by God’s Hands – From the dust of the earth, God formed humanity and breathed His life-giving spirit within us. The human body is, therefore, a masterpiece of divine design, embodying both strength and fragility.
2. A Temple for His Spirit – Scripture declares that our bodies are the “temple of the Holy Spirit” (1 Corinthians 6:19). This makes every choice we make with our bodies—what we eat, how we live, and how we treat ourselves—a spiritual act of worship.
3. A Channel for Life and Service – Through our bodies, we love, serve, create, and carry out God’s purpose on earth. Caring for the body means keeping it strong for the mission it was designed for.
How We Should Care for the Body
To honor God’s gift, we must treat our bodies with both holiness and responsibility. This means:
-
Nourishing It Wisely – Choosing wholesome, natural foods that give life rather than foods that harm or weaken.
-
Keeping It Pure – Avoiding substances, habits, and behaviors that destroy health, such as addictions, toxins, and harmful practices.
-
Strengthening It Daily – Engaging in exercise, rest, and healthy rhythms that allow the body to function as God designed.
-
Honoring It Spiritually – Recognizing that caring for the body is also caring for the soul, since they are inseparably united.
